Timing is everything and coincidence makes me pay attention. Today’s coincidence was that I met with the Head of Bioinformatics at one of my best clients. We had a great chat about SEO issues and opportunities, including the necessity to tread with caution when employing certain SEO practices. Namely, backlink building.
Then, as soon as I returned to my office and hopped onto Facebook, I saw this video post from my associate, Mike Glover of click-finders.com. Mike’s posting of the straight-from-the-horse’s-mouth words of Google’s Matt Cutts spoke to the exact topic of discussion I just had with my client.
Matt Cutts is the head of Google’s Webspam team and has nicknames like, “Google’s Chief Spam Cop.”
If you have any doubt about whether or not your website needs SEO, please make sure you do whatever it takes to wipe out that doubt. Your website needs it. Your business needs it if success in your market is to be found.
This video also touches on White Hat versus Black Hat SEO but, most importantly, Matt Cutts speaks highly and strongly about the benefits of White Hat SEO. I particularly like his comments that start at about the 3:05 mark, where he advises us to get “a good person” to do our SEO work. I think he means good-hearted and well-intentioned and integrity-filled, not just “good” and keyboarding and finding questionable SEO shortcuts.
